DESCRIPTION:
: Up for auction a second time is a 1972 Corvette Convertible which has had a frame off restoration started about 6 years ago by the previous owner in Wisconsin. It has PS, PB, and tilt/telescopic column, and NO AC. The original engine was rebuilt, still looks new inside. I do not have any specs but it seems mostly stock. It may have a slightly bigger cam. The transmission was rebuilt ( fluid still looks new), rear diff rebuilt, half shafts U-joints replaced, rear spring and both rear complete control arms were replaced as well. All fuel and brake lines were new, some still have the stickers on them, rubber ones too. The front suspension was completely replaced along with the brake calipers at all corners. When the car went back together, the vacuum line harness was replaced and the under hood wiring harness too. All glass is good as well. Unfortunately, the previous owner has lost the receipts so all I have are pictures and the story. Since that time the car was put back together and driven. I purchased the car to finish the restoration but am unable to complete it at this time. I will list the items I have replaced or fixed since I purchased it. I replaced the carpet front and rear and added some thick sound deadening material to the floor. I replaced both front seat covers upper and lower, along with the foam from Corvette America. Both "A" pillar window seals and both door seals are new. The hard top was just recovered with the correct grain vinyl along with all 3 seals as well. Both outer door handles are new and while the door panels were off, I made sure the door and window mechanism were in working order. I did have to replace the RH window guides and the LH inner door handle latch. I recently changed the oil, installed new plugs, rebuilt the carburetor too. (Edelbrock replacement #1901 not original) I replaced both exhaust bezels and have new correct S.S. tips to put on yet, it does have Flowmaster mufflers too which sound great. The bird cage seems to be in good shape as well. Now for a few of the not so good points of the car. First, the rag top is just a frame which was taken out of the car when I got it. Overall the frame looks usable and will need one latch for the LH outer side. I had a bid of $1100.00 to install the frame and new top with all seals-- which was next on my list for Spring. Second, the car was painted once (not the original white) in the past and it will need to be repainted. However, the door jambs are still the original white paint. . At this point it is a driver quality paint job, so you could hop in and drive it without worrying about chips and scratches. It has a couple of small cracks around the rear and the usual wavy area around the headlights. Third, it has no radio. Not a big deal but I wanted to make a note of it. This is a super solid car and needs someone to finish and enjoy! Unfortunately it wont be me. I think I have described the car as good as I can, but if you have any questions or want further pictures please let me know. I require a non-refundable $500.00 deposit due 24 hours after close of auction. I have had non compliant buyers in the past, so please do not bid unless you are serious!! And Please, ask questions if you have any.
